JULIA'S BIO

Julia Kennific is a soprano, actress, and musician living in Toronto, Canada. Originally from Oakville, Julia spent her formative artistic years joining a number of ensembles, including the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus, and was a Peel Music Festival Gold Medalist. In 2017, she relocated to Montreal to continue her studies in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Concordia University, and a Licentiate Diploma in Music Performance at McGill University. She is now completing an Artist Diploma at The Royal Conservatory's Glenn Gould School.

Julia divides her career focus between musical theatre, stage and opera. In the  2022-23 season, she performed in Opera McGill's productions of 'And The World Goes Round' (Ensemble) and 'Plaything' (Parrot Cover). Other recent credits include An Elegant Woman in Poulenc's Les Mamelles de Tiresias, Blanche in Bonnie & Clyde, and The Second Spirit & Papagena in Die Zauberflöte. In her private study and recitals, Julia places a focus on exploring composer diversity in classical music, and emphasizes works by female and LGBTQ2S+ composers, and Composers Of Colour.​Julia also teaches voice in her private studio, where she uses her pedagogical and cross-genre musical experience to work with students of varying levels, voice types, and genres.
